Sports after work
America is a country of sports. Every Sunday, there is no drama in the TV. All sports. Football, baseball, basketball, hockey, golf, tennis, etc.... Since everybody is doing sports, I should not be the exception. So I also started my sporting life.
Last Monday, I went to the softball game. I was in San Francisco SBC park to watch the Giants to play the baseball last year. Fans were crazy. But I don't like it. Maybe because I didn't really understand it. People said that if I am in the game, I will like it. So this time, I join the softball team to try it out. This is my first time to play softball. I was at the position of right corner. You know what, this is still a boring game. I didn't like it. I got two chances to hit the ball. I got both of them, but they were all caught ... Too bad :(
This Tuesday, I went to the soccer game! Haven't played it since I graduated from college. Still like it. The whole world are crazy about soccer except Americans. So all my team players are not Americans. They are from Indian, Taiwan and Mideast. But it is fun. Although it was very casual and we only had 6 people. Best of all, I scored 3 points :) But tired. I need more exercise.
Two weeks ago, I went to play basketball with some friends at the court near Milpitas dumping yard. The game was fun, but dumping yard was so stinking.. We need to change the court. Otherwise, I am not going to go back to the game.
From last week, I also started playing golf which I thought was an old man's game. It turned out that lots of young people actually play it. It is a very skilled game. When I just started, I felt pretty good because I can at least hit the ball quite far ... But when I started to keep the right pose and forceful swing, it became so hard. I had to admit that I may need to find a coach or attend a golf class :) When my college classmate was in Texas, he paid $80 /hr to get a private coach to learn the golf which he may hope can help his business career in Beijing. I should check on him sometime to see whether it helped :) But I do know that some business schools have the business golf classs.
