Joel's Reviews: True Love with a Side of Popcorn

The Best Romantic Movies of All Time

By JOEL SIEGEL

Feb. 14, 2007 — - Movies and romance are a match made in heaven, but eveyone has their favorites. Here are some suggestions to get in the mood for love this Valentine's Day.

"Good Morning America" Staff Favorites:

"Pride and Prejudice" (Everyone loved the Keira Knightley kiss!)
"Sleepless in Seattle"
"When Harry Met Sally"
"Bridget Jones' Diary"
"Say Anything"
"Love Actually"
"Casablanca" (This was the film most voted for and the one people were most passionate about.)

Joel's Favorite Valentine's Day Films:

"An Affair to Remember," with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr.
This movie is the reason Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks decide to meet at the observation deck in the Empire State Building in "Sleepless in Seattle." It's real tear-jerker, one of the great romantic movies of all time. If you haven't seen it, you must.

"Jerry McGuire"
The kiss on the porch is pretty neat, but "You had me at hello..." is one of the great movie moments of all time.

"Casablanca"
My all-time favorite movie.
Trivia question: Of all the cast members only one had really been to Casablanca. Which one? Answer: Dooley Wilson. He was a drummer, not a piano player, and a jazz band he was touring with in the '30s played in Casablanca.
